I want to paint a picture for you. You ready? Imagine for a second, that someone that means a lot to someone that you care for deeply. Wanting to give you a soundtrack, just like Peter. Quells mom gave him that cassette tape. What would be on the soundtrack? Of your life, what would be the song that means. The most to you or the group of songs. Something that defines you something that people hear and they think if you, what would that song look like? Let me know in the comments. I'd love to read them. For me, it would be. Blinn Queenie to the rock show. Uh, Starlight by muse thrash on real bias against me. She's a genius by jet. Just some of the songs that come to mind. When I think of music that defined the most important parts of my life. And I feel like that kind of emotion that kind of. Feeling you get is, is what. Uh, James Gunn was drawing on throughout the guardians of the galaxy franchise, especially in the second one. You know, that music is a big part of what he's doing. It's. It's all it is. No, I'm joking. But it is an important part of it. Right? When you hear the songs you think of the guardians of the galaxy there, they're obviously popular. Uh, classic songs, but at the same time, it's something that, that musical element is something that James Gunn leaned on when he wanted to convey emotion in his stories. I know. I know baby group was really only around. In this movie. But do you not feel like baby Groot should have been a bigger deal on time? Well, Baby Yoda level popular cause B grow goo. It's Israel name, but baby OD is what everyone called him. Was it huge deal? Everybody loved this thing. They had all these, um, Plush toys, shirts, Merck, just tons of merch. For baby Yoda, but it feels like we didn't get that much for. Baby Groot. I don't know. Maybe it's because he went away too quickly and baby Yoda, we kind of have throughout the Mandalorian. Right. But there definitely felt like at the height of baby Yoda, it was a lot higher than whatever the height of baby Groot was. So let's say you pick like a two month period when it was the most popular. I don't think baby Groot was at the level of baby Yoda, which is strange to me because I love baby Groot. They're those little shorts too. So cute. I also love when group becomes a teenager. He's like, I am create. So good. James Gunn, James Gunn. You are just an unreal director. I'm so hyped for what he's going to do in the DC universe. And all of that hype is stemming from what I've seen him do in the Marvel universe. I love Zack Snyder too. But. I'm really excited for what James Gunn's going to do. A lot of the people have said that. He leans to my, like the people that are not a fan of him joining the DC universe. A lot of the criticism I've seen of what James Gunn may bring. Is based around his, how much he leans into comedy. I guess people really like the darker tone of what J. Zack Snyder was doing and they, they're not looking forward to. James Gunn making it a little too funny, I guess. But. If you read comics and I don't know, I don't know too much about comics. Maybe it's just the ones I read and it probably is, but the comics that I've resonated with the most are the ones that had that humor. And it feels like when you're being silly and funny, you're being more authentic to what comic books. We're. You know what I mean? I'm sure they're comic. And I'm sure comic books, much like movies. I have something for everybody. You can watch read serious ones, or you can read the funny, silly ones. But to me one's not better than the other. Okay, you can do what James Gunn's going to do is going to be excellent. And it, and. He's kind of at the height of his powers with what he's been doing in the guardians movies. I think it's also a good indication of what you might see in the DC universe. Going to the galaxy to had. So much. Going for it. And if you want to look at the pillars of what I envisioned a Jim's gun movie. Humor. And heart. Those are the two pillars. No, no, let's, let's make it through humor, heart and action. And every single one of the guardians movies, those are like the fundamental pillars of what he brings. So let's talk about guardians of the galaxy volume two in particular. You have, uh, Peter Quill is escaping all the, the gold people. How their names are. And he finds himself on a planet where he meets his father. And his father's played by, um, Kurt Russell. For those of you who don't know. You find out throughout the film that Kurt Russell who's a celestial, um, actually wants to take over the universe. So all his good intentions that you were feeling at the beginning of the movie, get turned on its head. When you find out how crazy he is and the guardians. And the destroying. Ego, which that was his name. And escaping, but in the process of doing that, Yondu dyes. And Yondu his death was so sad. At the earlier in the movie, find out he got kicked out of the Ravagers. I guess you find out why later, when you figure out that, um, He was destroying all these children that he was bringing to eco, but Peter krill, he didn't want to bring to ego. Peter Quill Yondu saw as his own son. Oh, so sad and he lets. Uh, Quill know that at the end. When he saves them by sacrificing himself. And then he gets a ravages funeral at the end of the film, after all, with all these amazing fireworks. It was such a good movie. Drax as usual is so funny. There's this one scene where he doesn't want to wear the suit. Because he says he has sensitive. Nipples. And he has the, put it on. It was just like, oh, Man. This is so good too. When she, uh, she's like an empath and she tells people how she feels. And she tells she does a depute, her quote. Well, Gomorrah is there and he says to Peter like, oh, you have feelings of physical attraction to Gomorrah. And then drags just started. Bawling his eyes out laughing. He's just like, oh, that is so embarrassing for you. It was so funny. Oh, only in a James Gunn movie. Will I cry? Tears of laughter. Tears of joy and here's a sadness. The trifecta. So, so good. I feel like Groot and Nebula in particular, weren't used as much. In these, in this film as they were in the other ones. But even in saying that I still got a lot of. The screen time they were given. So. Nebula. Got all upset. And she was so pissed at Gomorrah and she talked about how every time Gomorrah beat her. Uh, Thanos would take a part of her out and replace it with machines. And then in the end, Actually it's funny in those final scenes. Or closer towards the end of the film. Nebula and group both had their best moments. And nebulous case. It was when she said that she just wanted a sister. You know, she just wanted someone to support her and be there for her. When they have such an abusive father, like banjos. Wow. And group for Groot. His was more, that was very dramatic. Groots was more humorous because there's this button that he had to press. And one of the button would one there's two buttons. There's a, let's call it a device. And on this device, there were two buttons. One of them would have just killed everybody. And the other would have saved the day. The joke was grew, kept almost pushing the wrong button. When rocket rocket was explained to him what to do. And they were like, oh, he's going to screw up. And. So rocket, uh, group gets this. Little device and he brings it into the heart of the planet. Towards where Eagle's brain is. And he actually pushes the right button in the F in the most important moment of the film. It was so funny, just him. Trying to figure out which button. You know, a film is good. When even the lesser used characters. Still have scenes that you think about after the movie. So top to bottom, it was just so well done. Got to tip my hat to James Gunn. I feel like this. Franchise like the Guardian's franchise is in a battle with captain America for the best. The trilogy and the MCU and I'm leaning towards captain America getting the Trelegy. We'll see how I feel after I watched volume three. We are now 15 movies in our MCU rewatch. That's 15 out of 32. Guardians of the galaxy volume. Two comes in at number nine in our MCU rankings, our MCU power rankings. Tune in next week when we will be watching. Ooh. Spider-Man so hyped for that one. Spider-Man homecoming will be the movie next week. That's halfway through our MCU rewatch. I'm mark savvy of savvy geeks. And as always, thank you for listening.
