Guess who's back, back, back, back again, again, again. I am back, back, back. Tell your friends, friends, friends, FRIENDS! A new season of Savvy Geeks is upon us. I'm wearing my sushi socks, I got my Stranger Things t shirt and my awesome jean jacket on, and I'm just having a blast. So happy to be back talking with you all again. I think the breaks are important. They give you a nice little break between seasons. It allows me to focus on some other stuff, and, you know, it's cool to kick the season off on your birthday. Yes, by the way, happy birthday to me! I'm turning 32. Yeah, it sucks. It sucks ass to be turning 30 wait, 32? Yeah. I have to do the math, because I don't actually I don't actually keep track anymore. It's just too sad. As I've gotten older, though, I will say it's bothered me less. My plan for my birthday is I took the day off. I'm going to go downtown, have a nice breakfast. I'm going to go to some local game shops and local comic book shops in the city of Toronto and just have a blast, just some time to myself. And I'm going to come home. Play some Call of Duty, probably get a 4 KDR cause everyone cheats in that game, oh man, it's so good to be back, yeah! I'm sure you're all asking, what do I have in store for this season? Well, I was thinking, because I feel like a lot of us have had superhero fatigue, how about I talk about superheroes. No, no, but here, listen, listen to what I have to say. Hear my explanation first. I have decided to go from the beginning and do a full MCU rewatch. From episode, episode, from movie 1 of Iron Man to the latest movie in the MCU which will probably be Deadpool 3 at the time. In between, yeah, so each week I'll be putting a new episode where I go over, you know, the movie of the week or whatever it is. And in the meantime, I also have other episodes, I'll cover other things too. But I just think this is a really good way to go back and see where it all started. There's a reason we have superhero fatigue. Because the studios pumped up so much content that we got kind of sick of it all. But the question is, why did they do that? Well, the reason why they did it is because the movies made bank. When Tony Stark first appeared as Iron Man, there were other superhero films. We had the Rimey Spider Man, we had the Fantastic Four, we had Blade, there's tons of other stuff, but none of it was really building towards a cohesive universe like we were gonna get with this. So, it wasn't a full comic book property if you ask me, because I don't know much about comics, I've read a few, but one thing I realized is it's all like connected. That's what makes them so special too, is you have your individual comics, but they all lived in this world together. That's what I thought was so fun about it. So if they don't really exist in their own world, then it was kind of, they were kind of just their own standalone properties and that was it. Neither, none of these movies ever connected to something bigger, they were all just their own thing. X Men is another good one. X Men was okay because X Men had such a big property that you could kind of build your own universe out of X Men. But they never really did because they had the Wolverine solos and they had the X Men movies. That was it. So, Tony Stark and Iron Man were the building blocks for something greater. Something that was never done before. And yeah, they've kind of fallen. from grace a little bit but There was something special there at the beginning and that's why I wanted to watch it I wanted to connect with those building blocks again Those properties that made us all fall in love with this universe when we never even knew who iron man was We never cared about captain america No one Really paid any attention to mjolnir or thor's hammer, you know the nick fury. Nobody cared about Like, I'm sure a lot of people care, but I'm more speaking to the people that this introduced the whole world for. Like me, I never really paid attention to these guys much. I was more into X Men, I was more into Barney as a child. But yeah, these films are very special. And, I've seen Iron Man 1, you'll have to wait until next week to know what I thought. But, oh, watching that one, it really brings you back. I want to paint a picture for you of how I watched it. I bought the Lego Avengers Tower. That thing is a beast. A beast. It's so crazy to build. So what I've been doing is I've been putting my laptop on a box or on the table and I've been building the LEGO Avengers Tower while I watch the MCU. I just thought that it's a fun thing to do at the same time. I've seen these movies like 20 times, so it's nice to be doing something while you're watching it. I building the LEGO just adds a little more to it that makes it more fun for me. I do want to do an Attack on Titan rewatch and I do want to do a Lost rewatch so we'll look at doing those later on in the year. But maybe I'll only do one rewatch at a time because I like the idea of having a general episode and then a rewatch. We'll see, there's lots of exciting stuff happening. Hey, if you've been to my Batman movie night as well, I'd be open to doing a Deadpool movie night. Deadpool 3 is coming out in July. It's gonna be a big deal. So if you want me to do one of those just make sure you send some comments Hype up these episodes help me go to the Theaters and show them how much people care about this stuff how much fun everyone had so we can do another one I would love to Deadpool 3 is just very special to me. I would say Wolverine is My most iconic superhero character specifically Hugh Jackman as Wolverine There's no one in the universe that I connect with more like he's he is Well, I should say Iron Man's pretty special now too, but Wolverine is just iconic for me He's like the first superhero I fell in love with I've only been able to see Logan once because it made me cry too much the first time seeing Wolverine die But now he's back. So maybe I can watch Logan again And the reason I'm telling you this is, as a special birthday present to myself, I got the first edition comic of Wolverine. So the very first solo comic for Wolverine, made in 1982. Frank Miller, shout out! I got it, and it's slapped. It's a 9. 6 CGC grade. So it's pretty valuable. It's just a little treat to myself. It was a little pricey, but it's worth it. Sometimes you just gotta treat yourself. I think that's what this podcast has become for me too. I just like to treat myself talking about all the things that I love and sharing it with the people that I love. Cause I'm sure my family and friends listen I love you guys. Thank you so much for listening. Thank you so much for your support all over the years because we've been going for three, four years now. And we're not gonna stop. As leo DiCaprio said in Wolf of Wall Street, I'm not going anywhere. I'm not going anywhere. See you next week.
