The biggest Netflix franchise. To ever hit the streaming service. After being shunned by Warner bros, Zack Snyder returns. For an all new franchise. Completely brand new. From his visionary mind, the IPN question. Rebel moon. Let's talk about it before we get into anything. I want to let our listeners know about the reviews so far for rebel moon. Okay. We have a 24% critic score on rotten tomatoes. Out of 149 reviews. And then we have a 62%. User score out of 5,000 plus reviews. The movie is two hours and 15 minutes long. Jen, what did you think? Give it like a 60 or 70. I think that's fair. Yeah, it seems about right. It's nothing. Um, it's, it's not like. I don't know. I think if it was, it was, if it was sent to theaters, it probably would've flopped. Yeah, I don't think it was amazing. Um, But it was still like a good botch. Like I enjoyed watching it. I definitely liked it. The only thing that frustrated me. Was the fact that there's like a director's cut coming and Zack Snyder. I could I'm paraphrasing. So maybe I got this wrong, but I believe what Zack Snyder said. In general terms. Was that there? This new director's cut is almost like a brand new movie and what pisses me off. I know. When you watch. By the way people, uh, spoils from this point out. So if you haven't seen it. Pause. Um, when you watch this movie, you can tell that. It was made with a director's cut in mind, like there's pieces missing the kind of feel like out of place. Yeah. There's like certain, certain scenes and just like, what, like, what are you doing? Why, why. On Netflix, like why would you just give him the director's cut and also like, did they just not bother with the editing because they knew a director's cut was coming. I don't know how movies work. But to me, this movie definitely felt like it was incomplete. Yeah, I mean, The whole thing with Charlie, uh, Hugh numb or whatever his name is that guy. How we ended up betraying them at the end. The lead up for that. Yeah, there was no lead up and they randomly had like a spark, like an emotional spark. It's like, what are you doing there? There clearly is like 20 plus minutes of footage with him and the lead that girl. Where we get that more of that dynamic and what leads to his betrayal? It's funny because when we first started watching it. You put it on it. I thought this whole time, that rebel moon was a new series. Like I thought it was a TV show on Netflix. And so it was playing along. And I was like, wow, what's happening in the first episode. And it was two hours and 15 minutes now. Oh, it's a movie. And what's crazy is there's a part two coming. So part one. It should have been like a three and a half part. One should have actually been two movies where we see way more contexts. You should, it would have been better as a limited series. Yeah. Instead of a movie. Uh, I didn't think that the pacing was good for this. It's it's almost like, okay. So, uh, me and gentlemen attempting a puzzle, which I've really struggled at. So imagine you're looking at a puzzle. And it's complete, but you could tell, like there's certain pieces that you may have put in the wrong spot, or maybe there's pieces that are missing. So it's not really complete. This is what this movie felt like an incomplete puzzle. There was pieces missing and you know, that they're there. I just put them in. You know what I mean? Yeah. I don't know. Like overall, this story was a little. Wishy washy for me. I feel like the director's cuts going to be amazing. I can, I just see his vision and I know. I don't think I don't like director's cut stuff. I didn't like it when he did it with the justice leaks, the justice league was amazing. Really the problem with these films are it's like, bro. Can you not make me, can you not make it a cohesive story? And under four hours, like. What the hell he should do. I feel like if this, if that's his style, Go for more of a limited series and for Netflix seek should have been that. Yeah, it was, I think this movie. Um, I dunno, maybe it fell under the weight of its own. Spectation because I really had high hopes for it. I was disappointed. I mean, I'll watch it though. I'll continue. The second part, like. I mean fire. I don't really know. Uh, I can go from there, but this is what they should have done. This should have been this part. One story. I should have been more like two, two hour movies. Where like, it's just. So many pieces were missing and I love the actors. I love the characters. There's one part of it was kind of silly. What was his name? Ray Fisher. He played cyborg in the justice league. He was like running up the ship. To sacrifice and to die, like to save everybody, but he did such small little. Sprint, it looked awkward. Like it didn't look like a person that runs. What did you think of the visuals? I thought it was weird how they had like, kind of a stationary image in the background for some parts, like when they were like, um, camping or when she was like in the farm. But I also thought that kind of looked cool. Like it was on purpose. Yeah. It takes some getting used to the only issue that I really had with the film is. That they just didn't. They didn't edit it properly. It's all down to editing. Yeah. That's all it is. I would recommend people wait until the director's cut. But honestly, if the second one comes out, And it's the same shit. It's like two hours long socks. And I was like, oh, I have another, uh, Did version of this. That's a different film. I'm not watching your movies anymore, bro. I'm not, I refuse to, I'm getting pissed off. Stop with these directors cuts. Like, why would you want like a B version when you, you just give me the A-plus version, you know? Don't give me you a mediocre. Yeah. It's like, it's like they didn't, he couldn't get them to agree to his own vision. So he half-assed the editing. Yeah to make that suffer and his director's cut look good. I'm sure that's not the case because Zack Snyder by all accounts seems like an amazing person with a kind heart. I don't, I don't want to bash you bro, but. I'm getting really sick of these director's cuts. Come on. Just not for me. Yeah. It's just not. I watched the second one just to see what happens. It is not that terrible. It's not like wonder women to know it's not unwatchable. It just frustrates you because you could see the gaps in the story. That's it. Why don't we went to was just not good. I hate. I hate it. Yeah. You hate that? Just left down. If we're talking about movies that fell into the way, the expectations, one woman, 1984 broke your heart. The biggest disappointment of it. Yeah. I've seen him. I. I agree. The thing with rebel moon, though, robo moon was supposed to be this massive franchise. They're going to have standalone movies. Uh, TV shows maybe a game. Like several, several movies. I come from, is it just based off of a book or. Did you hear what I said at the beginning? He made it up. Oh, Zach, since. They're just made up. Just made it up. Interesting right. Listen, peeps. You heard it here. Folks wait for the director's cut. If you haven't seen the original, but if you have seen the original Iowa and say it's a waste of time. In fact, I would say it's a okay time. And that's just okay.
