What's up, everybody? With the Marvels coming out, I think it is the perfect time for us to talk about where the MCU stands right now. And if I'm being honest, I don't think it's in a good place. When Endgame finished, and all these Disney Plus shows started getting announced, I thought to myself, oh, that's pretty cool, because you have all these different, corners of the MCU that people can follow. If you want to watch, uh, the magic centered shows or movies, you can follow that. If you want street level stuff, you can follow that. If you want more, Alien related stuff you could follow that like I figured there'd be all these different kinds of areas of Marvel that you could follow separately and I was thinking that'd be cool Like I would follow all of them, but I assume for other people they would be able to focus on what they prefer But then I I quickly realized that because it's all so interconnected and I was dumb to not realize this before But because it's so interconnected You kind of have to see it all. You can't see the marvels without seeing WandaVision or without seeing Ms. Marvel or even without seeing, uh, what's it called? Secret Invasion. There's just too many things releasing for us to all follow and it becomes kind of a mess, you know? That's why I think they've decided to take a step back because they realize that people are getting superhero fatigue, you know, it's a word that people have used a lot. And I think it's finally become accurate. A lot of times like, no, it's bad movie fatigue, but even if these were all bangers, I still think people would get a little tired of it. Think about all the shows and all the movies that they originally wanted to put out that they postponed armor wars. They postponed, uh, what's the one with, um, iron heart. They postponed. Echo, they postponed, all of those were going to come out this year, what if season 2, all this stuff they pushed I have my cousin who loves Marvel stuff he really does like it and he has he's not even gonna come see them the Marvels with me because he didn't watch any of the shows and That's why the the movie is bombing at the box office. It's tracked to earn less than the flash Yeah In opening weekend, numbers. Because, who the hell is going to watch all this stuff? There's too much! And the other thing is, When you look at the original era of the MCU, Era, era? I think we have more quality stuff now, Than we did back then. But, the issue is, Yeah, you might have your Guardians of the Galaxy, Volume 3, And you might have your Loki, And you might have your werewolf by night color version, which is awesome. But you also have all this other shit that they shoved down our throat, like Secret Invasion, I gotta be honest. Maybe I hyped myself up with it too much. I gotta watch it back and give a more honest review. But you have all this stuff, like there's just too much. Also, by the way quantumania wasn't as bad as people thought it was a solid ant man movie so that one's okay But guardians of the galaxy volume 3 was upper echelon cbm Which stands for comic book movie? I get the sense seeing the online discourse and talking to friends and family who were at one point heavily invested in the MCU, that they've been disappointed post Endgame with what Marvel and Disney have done. A lot of people are not going to see the Marvels. A lot of people are going to have preconceived notions about what the Marvels is going to be. I, myself, am really excited for the film. I'm on board with everybody else in that this universe has been kind of disappointing post endgame. However, there's been a lot of good projects, and a lot of these characters I'm really hyped for. You have Iman Villaini's Ms. Marvel, who was unreal. I love that show. if you have kids, they can watch Ms. Marvel. It's really good. Then you have Monica Rambeau who's introduced in WandaVision. I really am a huge fan. I would say Monica Rambeau is one of my favorite characters post Endgame and then Brie Larson Who's been a huge bummer for me And every appearance I've seen her like she's not that she hasn't been that good but I love Brie Larson as an actor and I have a lot of hope with I have high hopes for what I believe they will be able to do with this character going forward. So I'm going in with open eyes Open arms ready to hug the shit out of this film ready to love it Let's see i'm about to get i'm gonna get up right now go watch it and i'll come right back and let you know What I think I am back after seeing the marvels and don't you worry everybody. I will not spoil anything. When Jen watches it, we'll do one together. And then we can talk about it. It will give more people time to see it, because I feel like a lot of people aren't going to see it right away anyways. I will say this. It is way better than Captain Marvel. On a whole nother level. Captain Marvel was part of, I would say, A tier belonging to the worst Marvel movies in the MCU. I'm talking Thor Dark World. I'm talking, Thor Love and Thunder. Maybe some people could argue that, what's that movie? Black Widow belongs there. I don't really love Black Widow, but I hate it. So, that brings me to what did I think of this film. Okay, it's way better than Captain Marvel, but that's a low bar. Does that mean it's good? Yeah, it's a good time. I had a lot of fun watching it. If I had to rank the Marvels of who I liked the most, it would be Iman Valani's Kamala Khan, who is Ms. Marvel. She's number one. Ton of heart, a lot of fun. The second one would be Photon, Monica Rambeau. She's, I'm not gonna say anything, but that's her character in the comics. Then the third is Brie Larson's Carol Danvers, also known as Captain Marvel. I know I ranked her third just now, but I really liked her character. It just means I love those other two that much more. It's under two hours, which is a long time for a movie, but it still felt kind of rushed. That being said, I had a lot of fun watching, even though it was rushed. The main villain, who's actually married to Tom Hilston in real life. Funny enough, she was an excellent actress. However. Her character was kind of ass, if we're being honest. What else, what else can I say without spoiling anything? Nick Fury played a big role in it. Kamala Khan's family played a big role in it. If you haven't seen Miss Marvel, I'd watch that. It's pretty important to this one. Same with WandaVision. I guess that's what we're getting at, right? Like, there's too much stuff to follow. No one can follow all these shows and movies. I was wrong that it would be fun that they had all these different universes that you can zero in on. It doesn't work that way. It's too convoluted and it's too messy. But there's also a lot of promise in the future. The Marvels was fun. It was a good time. It doesn't need to be like Loki, which was high quality stuff. You could have the Lokis and also have room for the Marvels. But the problem is you need to have more of the Lokis than you do the Marvels. Like in the original era of, era of Marvel, the Infinity Saga, you had your Ant Man's. Those were fun, whatever. But you also had Ragnarok. And you also had Civil War. So there needs to be a balance, you know. But it needs to be skewed towards... I guess it's not a balance. Yeah, you're right. It's not a balance. I know what I'm saying. It needs to be skewed towards the quality. But you can mix in some of the fun stuff. Because not everything needs to be a banger. If I were... I don't want to give a savvy meter rating. Because I feel like when I give savvy meter ratings of things like right away... It's not like as accurate as I want it to be because you just saw it. Maybe you're a little high on it than you would be if you saw it more times. Right. So I want to give more, I want to give myself more viewings to see the marvels, but it didn't disappoint me. I had a lot of fun. Go watch it. If you can support, you know, we're not going to get another Marvel film until Deadpool three comes out. Next year, 2024, I think sometime around May. So why not watch it? Right. It's not like they've cut back. They, they, they're doing what I'm suggesting and cutting back on what they put out. So hopefully the quality maintains and we get some good films next year. And then the following year, you have Fantastic Four. So 2025 is fantastic. Four, uh, what else is coming out? Blade's supposed to come out. We'll see. We'll see the Fantastic Four. Marvel, To sum up, you're scaring me, But I'm cautiously optimistic. Do right by us. Do right by the fans. Put out good shit, bro.
